What happens in this spreadsheet?

One invests in yourself, a project, your business or a career over a period of time. This investment curve sometimes feel as if it keeps on going down, eating resources like time, money and effort; but one should not forget that after a time this investment begins to pay dividends.

You have your downward investment curve, you have your upward payback curve after a period of time has passed. Add the two of these variables together and you get a curve slowly turning upward over time as the investment grows.

In the spreadsheet you will find you have to supply different values:

• Period of the investment / payback in years?
• Where does your investment start?
• When do you expect payback?
• Growth is calculated using investment and payback.
